VOICES of Black Women study engages community

Making Strides event in Atlanta, one of two pilot areas, hosts informational table.

In October, the American Cancer Society officially launched its VOICES of Black Women population cohort study in two pilot markets: Atlanta, GA, and Hampton Roads, VA, with enrollment open to women across Georgia and Virginia. The study, which has a goal to enroll 100,000 Black women by 2026, is designed to help better understand cancer risk and outcomes among Black women in the US and will ultimately become the largest cohort study of its kind in the United States.

On Oct. 14, Making Strides Against Breast Cancer of Atlanta hosted a table with information about the study. Pictured above are the display as well as the Scientific Striders team, with ACS employees from the Population Science team, at the table.

If you live in Georgia, Virginia, or have connections who do and who may be interested in enrolling, please help share the opportunity. Enrollment in this pilot phase is open only during October and November, so don’t delay!
