ACS CAN unveils new mission statement

We 'advocate for evidence-based public policies to reduce the cancer burden for everyone.'

The American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN) Board of Directors has approved a new mission statement for team members and volunteers to use when communicating about our work.

As part of the Brand Refresh ACS CAN’s new mission statement is as follows: “Advocate for evidence-based public policies to reduce the cancer burden for everyone.” The statement is now incorporated into ACS CAN’s existing abbreviated and longer form English and Spanish boilerplate language.

Although the American Cancer Society (ACS) and ACS CAN share the same vision, as a separate organization, ACS CAN must have its own mission distinct from ACS’s mission.

A few important key takeaways and resources include:

  • ACS CAN and ACS continue to share a vision statement but do not share a mission statement.
  • Neither the ACS CAN mission statement nor the boilerplate language is not customizable in any way.
  • Additional materials, such as the Brand Guidelines, ACS Editorial Style Guide and the ACS CAN PowerPoint template will be updated to include the new mission statement. Stay tuned for further updates and instructions.
